Rose City Comic Con and Youtube

Hey everyone! Long time again. I've been so busy with my new store and Inktober and all that stuff that I haven't really had time to blog.... ahahahaha.... but here is a big fat series of updates. :)
I made a convention video when I traveled to Portland for Rose City Comic Con last month. In it, you get a little behind-the-scenes view of what it's like to be behind the table, and I talk about table setup and Portland things. Check it out!

Also if you're not already following me on Youtube, my channel is here. Be sure to follow me for drawing process videos and all kinds of art stuff!

New Manga Studio comic demo

I made a new process video!
This is a recording of my process for one panel in a recent comic project. The comic was a scroll-style one-shot piece, that told the lore behind an indie game production I'm contributing to.

Gah, I really hope I'm getting better at this recording thing! >.<

The final comic (without text) is as below:

I'm very happy with how the paper texture worked out. The emperor's gold color coding was also a lucky gamble. I hope you like it!

Chozen work & webcomic & moving

I've posted a new gallery of some work I did for FX's animated comedy, Chozen!

It's sad news that Chozen will not be renewed for a second season. But, at least for now, it seems like things will be working out after all. I just landed a concept art gig that will take me to Austin come early July. I'm looking forward to the move!
Anyone who knows Austin well, or any Austinite artists, please feel free to hit me up!
I'll need new drawing buddies. :D Hehe.

Also, a completely new website for my webcomic, Shaman Child,  is now up!!
The comic will now be hosted on Tumblr (the old blogger is still there but will not be updated). I must say I'm quite proud of the customization a dumb non-coder like me managed to pull off.
If you like the comic, please do spread the word. I'm trying really hard to up readership, and I'm hoping to have a printed mini for sale at Heroes Con. All reposts are much appreciated! <3>

20th Century Boys Mini

In celebration of one of the most amazing and underrated stories ever done in comics....
And in belated celebration of 2014, the year of "Friend"'s defeat. ;)

By the way, if you don't know this series by Naoki Urasawa, it's highly recommended! (Along with his other book Monster.) It's well-written and great for someone new to manga.

San Diego Comic Con!

This was my first year going, so I was just trekking the floor with the rest of my fanboy and fangirl kin (not like I could afford a table there if I wanted one, lol). It was outrageously exhausting, but also loads of fun... I got to meet up with most of the people I wanted to see, but couldn't make it to every event I was interested in for the life of me. Next time I'll know what to plan for. :P

Thanks to all the lovely people who spent time with us there, and who made this con awesome!

Here are a few badly taken phone pictures, FYE.

Zombie and me! Yay!
The Walking Dead set up a whole watch tower replica!

It was all worth the money.... *u*

Have I posted about my webcomic yet?

NO I HAVEN'T. GO ME.

Well, I figured it's time I started promoting this project more. I am currently creating a webcomic, that is being updated every Monday, on it's separate site here. I've also made a link for it on the sidebar.

I'm super excited to be doing this, though at times I wish the pages would just draw themselves.... LOL! It's lots of work, but if I want to make my own graphic novels, I've got to start somewhere, right?
Come check it out, and if you have any feedback (including critiques), by all means let me know! ^_^

Heroes con report

I am back from Heroes Con!
The convention was a blast, and I am proud to say I felt like my shit was finally together this time (banner, products, prints, setup). I sold very few prints and stickers, even though there was plenty of traffic. The things that sell at conventions every year are always unpredictable. On the other hand the last two days just flew by because I was bent over my table constantly pumping out commissions! O_o So all worked out well in the end.

I also got some promo in for the webcomic that I am working on (see here ^_^), but seeing as I've only barely posted 9 pages, I wanted to ease into the marketing. I'll keep on updating once a week, and let everyone know when the story really gets going.

Thank you to everyone who made Heroes Con rock. I still feel like it's one of the few conventions that showcase artists over everything else, and gives artists both a chance to display their work and meet tons of fans. I met a few artists and writers that I admired, and got in quality partying time with fellow Studio Revolver members. That was a gooood convention!

Here are some of my convention sketches to wrap things up. :)

CHEW pin-up

This. Series. ROCKS.
CHEW has been one of my favorite ongoing reads for the last couple of years. Not the same art style as me, but that just means I could have fun interpreting the characters with my style! I loved drawing it!

Apologies again for the interval. I was in Shanghai visiting some friends for a couple of weeks, so couldn't really post much from there. But here's a quick summation of what most of my trip was like:

Haha.
Cheers :)

Oppan Tetsuo Style

Tetsuo is joining the party, gooey flesh blobs and all! :D
Drawing I did as a gift for my friend Joe Peacock (I guess he's also supposed to be my boss.. yeah), who is a rabid AKIRA fan.

Tombow markers (I don't care what you say about Copics. Tombows rock.) and Microns on bristol.
